Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Proverbs 31:15

Proverbs 31:15 King James Version (KJV)

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

1.  Her Schedule- What is the first thing we learn about the schedule of God's Proverbs 31 woman?  She got up early to take care of her family.
Name some others in the Bible who are noted for early rising.

          Genesis 19:27-
"And Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:"

Abraham got up early to meet with the Lord.

          Psalm 5:3-
"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up."

David prayed to the Lord in the morning.

          Mark 1:35-

"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."

Jesus rose up early to pray.

2.  Her Family-  How did the godly woman, wife, and mother of Proverbs 31 serve her family at this early hour?

She got up early to prepare the food for the family and to give the tasks to the maidens for the day.

3. Her Plan-   Verse 15 is the only verse in this passage from Proverbs 31 that contains three lines.  Technically, it's called a triplet.  How does the third line read?  "and a portion to her maidens"

The Proverbs 31 woman delegated tasks to her maidens. She was well organized and kept a very organized home.

What do these scriptures teach us about the wisdom of planning and organizing?

Proverbs 16:3- "Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established"

Proverbs 21:5- "The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want."

What caution should we take as we approach our grand plans according to James 4:13-15?

James 4:13-15-
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

We need to live every day to its fullest... don't procrastinating and trying to put things off to tomorrow.  Only God knows what lies tomorrow... Live life honoring GOD today.

DEVELOPING GODLY EXCELLENCE

My schedule- Do I live an organized life.  Planning the day out to Glorify God in all I do?
Do I rise early to take care of my families needs?
Do I have a daily plan and stick to it?

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the clear lesson that Proverbs 31:15 gives me.  Help me to be an organized woman, to make godly choices.  Help me to rise early to tend to my family and their needs. Thank you for the perfect example  you gave us with Jesus Christ your son.
In Jesus name I pray
Amen.
